Our Doctors
Solutions Dental is led by owner Dr. An, who personally selected Dr. Kim to join the practice. Both doctors earned their undergraduate degrees at the University of Washington and their dental degrees at the UW School of Dentistry. Together, they care for patients throughout the Tacoma community.
Dr. Se Won An is the owner of Solutions Dental in Tacoma. His background brings together cosmetic restorative dentistry, university teaching, and dental research, with advanced training in restoring damaged teeth, replacing missing teeth, and understanding how the teeth work together.
Dr. An earned both his bachelor’s degree in biology and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington. He went on to pursue graduate training in prosthodontics at UW, furthering his education in the full mouth cosmetic restorations and replacement of teeth. He is also a graduate of the Kois Center in Seattle. He is the youngest ever to have earned Fellowship and Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, which is less than 2% of all dentists in the US.
Throughout his career, Dr. An has continued to study dental implants, esthetic restorations, bite function, and digital treatment planning. His research has explored the durability of dental crowns, restorative materials, and new technologies for evaluating oral health, with work published in dental and biomedical journals. As a former affiliate faculty member at the UW School of Dentistry, he also taught dental anatomy and bite function and worked with students in the clinic.
Dr. An’s experience extends to community health dentistry and volunteer dental outreach in Washington, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Together, these clinical, academic, and community experiences inform his work at Solutions Dental and his care for patients throughout the Tacoma community.
Se Won An, DDS, MAGD
We are pleased to introduce Dr. Sean Kim, DDS, who joined Solutions Dental at the beginning of September.
Dr. Kim is originally from Seoul, South Korea, and moved to University Place, Washington, when he was 13. He attended the University of Washington, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Biomedical Sciences, and later graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2024, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
As a general dentist, Dr. Kim is particularly interested in aesthetic dentistry and helping patients feel confident in their smiles. He is passionate about patient care and enjoys building relationships with his patients, making sure they feel comfortable and well cared for. He takes the time to listen to each patient's concerns, understand their needs, and provide thoughtful, personalized care.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kim is a big sports fan and especially enjoys following the Seattle Seahawks and UW Huskies. He grew up playing a variety of sports in his teenage years. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Kim is excited to meet his new patients and be a part of the community again in his beloved area. We look forward to introducing Dr. Kim to you and hope you will join us in giving him a warm welcome!
